Police in Kuria West Sub County have launched an investigation into the death of two children aged 6 and 8 years respectively whose bodies were today morning found in river Tagare Isebania Kuria west sub county.
Migori County police Commander Joseph Nthenge said that the two deceased minors were heading to school at Tagare primary school when they decided to play in the river before drowning an incident which shocked the area residents.
The police boss said that the two bodies had so far been retrieved by the police with the help of the residents since the bodies were not however swept far away from the place of the incident.
He however appealed to parents and guardians to ensure they take good care of their children especially when they could be crossing rivers or passing near rivers now that there are short rains in the region something he said could help in averting such incidences in the future.
The deceased bodies have been taken to Pastor Machage Memorial hospital mortuary in Migori awaiting for post-mortem as investigation into the matter continues.
