Security personnel in Migori County yesterday burnt down bhang approximated to be worth ksh.17.2 Million in Lichota grounds Suna west sub county Migori County.

According to Migori County commissioner Joseph Rotich who led other security department officer from Migori County in conducting the exercise, they took the initiative after they were given a go ahead by the court which he said had been nabbed one year ago and must be destroyed in a bid to do away with the vice in the region.

He said that the 1720 kilograms amounting to 1.7 tons was a testimony that the officers the community and other stakeholders had collaborated to have it fought in the area and would continue until it gets finished since it destroys many lives especially the youths’.

Migori County police commander Joseph Nthenge said that with the help of chiefs and other security personnel especially along the porous borders of Tanzania and Kenya they would ensure that no bhang passes through Migori adding that they had put all mechanisms in ensuring that the vice was dealt with promising to continue with the raid of nabbing other drug traffickers and whatever they were using to transport such consignments and that whoever would be found in such an illegal business would be dealt with in accordance to the law.

Nthenge at the same time warned vehicle owners to be careful and ensure that they give their vehicle to the right people saying most of them deviate into the bhang business saying such vehicles would be confiscated and not returned to the owners.
