Principal Secretary in the ministry of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and Innovation Jerome Ochieng has termed youth unemployment and empowerment a multi-sectoral issue.
Ochieng has called for a concerted effort among the ministries in the country to focus on information sharing, best practices as a well as data on how best to manage challenges affecting young people in the country.
He says the burden of youth unemployment and empowerment cannot be shouldered by the government alone thus the need to pull resources together.
The PS says the multi-sectoral team must come with interventions or action points that would address the identified gaps among young people.
Speaking at the close of Ajira training workshop at the University of Nairobi, Kisumu campus, Ochieng announced that plans are afoot to incorporate digital concepts in the education curriculum.
He says the ministry of ICT and Innovation has improved ICT infrastructure across the country to enable the youth to harness the full power of internet.
Ochieng says currently, the government has rolled out constituency innovation hub to allow access to broadband within a walking distance to every Kenyan.
