As schools opens for first term in Kenyan education calendar this week,16 pupils from Migori county who are supposed to join form one this year have a reason to smile after they were selected to be sponsored by the equity bank of Kenya under the programme known as ‘Wings to Fly’ initiative.
According to the Migori equity bank manager Mr.Dancan Sino said that the programme which was started in the last 10 years has seen several pupils especially those from humble background benefit from the programme at the end of the four year course in secondary schools
While speaking to Dala fm after completion of selection exercise among the pupils in Migori county,,Mr.Sino said that the programme has sponsored 248 students in Migori county saying he is optimistic of seeing the fruits of the exercise showing delightment among the students who do well at the end of the four year learning.
He at the same time urged all leaders from the region well-wishers and Kenya at large to come out and help such bright but needy students and failed to get a chance if they want to enhance learning activities in the county.
On his part Migori County governor Zachary Okoth Obado who also attended the exercise thanked to equity bank in coming out to ensure the needy students also go to school just like others in the society promising to give Ksh.100, 000 every month to any class eight pupils who will become among the top 100 in the national exams.
The selected pupils are expected to be in Nairobi for the official launch of the programme on 4th of this month by presidents Uhuru Kenyatta
