Siaya county government through the office of MCA for South East Alego Ward plans to take piped water to all schools, churches and trading centers within that region in the next five years.

According to the area MCA Mr. Joseph Mboha, this is aimed at ending the perennial water shortages in the region once and for all.

He revealed that they will ensure that at every school, church and trading center there is a water kiosk where the local residents can get piped water at subsidized charges.

Mr. Mboha who was speaking during the official opening of a water project that was done by the county government at Bar-Agulu trading center to a tune of Ksh 1 million stated that they will then work towards ensuring that individuals are also assisted to tap the piped water into their respective homes.

He was flanked by former MCA for East Gem Ward Mr. Booker Minami who encouraged the residents to establish well organized groups through which they can effectively benefit from government support.

On his part, the Ward administrator for South East Alego Mr. Collins Odanga who also graced the occasion encouraged the residents to be prioritizing the projects that they want in the budget.

He stated that proposed projects can easily be implemented if they are prioritized in the budget as opposed to when they just come up with them unexpectedly because every government project has to be budgeted for.
