Homa bay is one of the 12 counties which have not presented teams to this year inter-county youth tournament which is being held in Wote Makueni county.
According to a circular from the Council Of Governors (COG), homa bay has never presented a team since the tournament was launched four years ago.
In the circular, the tournament was started to assist in promotion of the young people, the tournament which started yesterday will end on Sunday and involve football, volleyball and netball.
In the circular, it was shameful that counties like homa bay, migori, Kisumu and Siaya which are said to be in rich of talents in football cannot raise teams that are fully funded by the county government.
The circular was signed by the COG chair Josphat Nanok which states that out of 47counties only 35 presented they will therefore summon the 12 governors to explain where the money given unto them for sporting activities is being spent, claiming that in these counties they discovered that some of them have no leagues and even the playing pitches constructed by the county and for that says that the devolved government has no meaning/importance to the youths.
