Residents of Migori County have urged to embrace sisal farming in a bid to empower them economically.
This is according to Cabinet secretary in charge of Agriculture Willy Bet who said that Migori County has reach resources and several incoming generating activities which must be exploited to improve on their living standards.
Speaking in Sori after launching the Al Nagel Holding Limited which has invested in sisal farming in Nyatike he applauded the private developer from Egypt who has brought the Sisal factory in the area saying several economic activities will be felt there by the locals as many individuals are expected to get job opportunity at the place for their livelihood.
He urged the residents to start sisal farming to provide raw materials for the factory which is expected to produce over 1000 tons of sisal in the near future hence becomes one of the Kenyan producing industry just like the sisal farm in Kibwezi saying the future of sisal is enhanced.
He told the developers to make an official document on the number of hectors of land they want for the expansion of the factory which has been a major challenge to the developers.
