Muhoroni MP Onyango says the lull in the payments to farmers is worrying despite the presidential executive order authorizing the payments.
The MP says the agriculture cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri who also assured farmers of payments has gone mute over the matter.
Koyoo says farmers were given hope that the payments were to be disbursed by December last year.
Koyoo says the audit had been done and the ministry of agriculture had computed names of genuine farmers
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, the MP says farmers are now staring at a bleak future with challenges like school fees for their children.
Koyoo wondered whether it is the ministry of agriculture of treasury that is delaying the payments.
He says that parliament is ready to reconvene and pass the appropriation bill to have the farmers paid.
The MP spoke at a time the Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane Farmers has issued a one week strike notice to the government over the unpaid arrears.
The federation secretary general Ezra Okoth announced that already they have served the relevant authorities with the strike notice.
