Parents demand removal of school head

Hundreds of parents at Manyatta Arabs primary school in Kisumu central today camped at the school demanding removal of the school head teacher.

A notice by the ministry of education has directed the school head teacher to immediately close an orphanage facility at the school compound.

However, angry parents and the school community have rejected the move and are accusing the head teacher of being behind attempts to close the orphanage that has several kids.

Kisumu Central Sub county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Tom Macheneri and the sub county education officer Charles Ang’iela visited the school to calm down the rowdy parents.

Ang’iela told the parents that the orphanage was there illegally and against the education regulations.

DCC Macheneri says a meeting will be called with the school community tomorrow to start the process of formalizing the orphanage home to ensure safety of the kids.
