By JOSEPH OJWANG, Kisumu County.
The county government of Kisumu has moved with speed to decongest Kisumu bus terminus in the wake of Corona virus.
Governor Anyang Nyong’o told the press in Kisumu that the bus terminus is over populated and poses risk to many people.
Nyong’o said vehicles using Nairobi route will have to terminate at Mowlem bus stage.
This means that matatus and buses from Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Kericho, Chemelil and Muhoroni will offload passengers at Mowlem.
He said passengers will have to alight at Mowlem before they pick tuk tuks and motor bikes to the town centre.
He added that the current bus terminus is next to schools and a market putting the lives of many to risk from contacting Corona virus.
Nyong’o said that the directive has been communicated to the bus terminus management.
He also added that they are looking into other routes to see if more vehicles can be offloaded from the bus terminus.
