Migori Sub County residents have a reason to smile after the county government of Migori purchased a fire fighting engine in the area in a bid to help put out fire in case of fire break out.
According to Migori County governor Zachary Okoth Obado he said that the county has for long time been having challenges in putting out fire incidences due to lack of such equipment something he said will now be a thing of the past.
Governor Obado who was speaking during the unveiling and launching of the firefighting equipment he said that as a county government they are contemplating purchasing another fire engine considering the vastness of the county urging the residents and other leaders at large to take good care of the equipment if they want to benefit.
He at the same time took the opportunity to urge the residents to always consider leaving path ways and access roads where such vehicles can pass in case of fire outbreak urging other departments like that of roads, environment and land to work closely with the department of disaster management to help in such issues.
On their part Migori County minister for environment and disaster management Mrs.Elizabeth Ochae and her chief officer Mr.Joshua Gwala both who thanked the county government led by governor Zachary Okoth Obado for purchasing such equipment for the county however appealing to the residents of Migori to ensure that they adhere to the prevention measures of fire outbreak instead of waiting until they cause havoc for the people even as they look towards training more personnel who will be operating the equipment.
The county government of Migori has spent Ksh.50 million in purchasing the firefighting engine as the county has been depending mostly on the firefighting engine from Sony Sugar a move seems to be a bust for the county in managing fire in case of break out.
