Many left stranded following new traffic rules

Commuters in various parts of the country have started feeling the pinch following the start of the implementation of new traffic rules.

In Nairobi, hundreds of commuters were left stranded for the better part of the morning after matatu operators downed their tools in protest of the re-introduction of the famous Michuki traffic rules.

For other commuters who were lucky to get a few matatus operating on the road they were forced to pay double or triple the amount of fare usually charged while others opted to use other means of transport to their destinations like boda boda.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia and his Interior counterpart Fred Matiangi have warned that public service vehicles found violating the rules will be dealt with accordingly.

The re- introduced rules are meant to curb the rising cases of road carnage in the country that has robbed the lives of many Kenyans.
