Maisha Magic, KICC to host a Family Festival

2019… It is a fun-filled weekend as MultiChoice Kenya, through its
Maisha Magic brand, and Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) have partnered
to organize the first ever Maisha Magic Festival. The festival is an initiative by both firms to
celebrate the growth of television local content.
Over 14 artists are expected to perform at the Maisha Magic Festival 2019 to be held on
May 4 th at the KICC Courtyard. These artists include Khaligraph Jones, Naiboi, Mercy Masika,
Bahati, Hart the Band, Elani, Bensoul, Jabidii, Moji Short Baba, DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Ruff and
more.
Cast from popular Maisha Magic East shows like Selina, Varshita, Hullabaloo Estate, Nyanya
Rukia and Our Perfect Wedding will also make special appearance.
Speaking at the launch of the festival, MNET Channel Director, East and Southern channels
Timothy Okwaro reiterated Maisha Magic’s priority to deliver 100% local content to its
consumers. “This Festival is a celebration of our cast who are now household names in the
industry. Our commitment to the delivery of quality content to our subscribers by providing
our customers with unique viewing experiences as the industry video entertainment leaders
has only been reinvigorated,” he said.
Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Managing Director, Nana Gecaga lauded
the efforts by MultiChoice Kenya on their drive to grow the local content industry, adding
that film and television industry would play a key role in marketing the country. “We are
glad to be working with MultiChoice Kenya in delivering a successful festival where Kenyans
can come and interact with some of the best local content available on our television
currently.”


He added that Maisha Magic East provided a ready market for the growing
entertainment industry and urged local producers to take the opportunity offered by
Maisha Magic to invest in creation of more local shows that viewers across the East
African region can enjoy.
Over the past three years, Maisha Magic East has launched premium local content to the
delight of its viewers. Some of these include the award-winning show Selina that won
the Best TV Drama series award at Kalasha 2018 Awards, Pete – a one-of-a-kind Swahili
telenovela produced in Coastal Kenya, Maza – yet another Swahili soap opera produced
in the coastal region, Sue na Johnnie amongst others.
