Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has maintained that they have not taken over roads that were under county governments.
KURA Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti says they have continued to discharge their mandate within the prescribed law.
Kinoti says all roads in the country were classified and at no time has the Authority usurps the role of the counties.
Speaking in Kisumu during KURA management meeting, Kinoti says there is no duplication in their role as they strive to maintain urban roads.
He however blamed some counties for taking over roads meant to be maintained by KURA ending up failing to offer quality maintenance.
Kinoti told counties to stick to the classification of roads and carry out their mandate within the classification chart.
He announced that KURA is maintaining all urban roads in the country noting that their conditions are up to the standard.
