Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has started a ten days civil works on the runway at Kisumu International Airport to improve the aircraft operations infrastructure.
In a statement from KAA to the press, the scheduled work begins today and ends on 28th this month.
The civil works will entail the widening of the runway.
During the maintenance period, the runway will be available for flight operations from 06.45am to 07.00pm, after which it will be closed for the scheduled works.
The statement further noted that the runway will however remain closed all day long tomorrow.
This, the management says will allow for major preliminary works that will enable daytime flight operations on the subsequent days.
KAA has in the meantime advised passengers planning to travel through Kisumu International Airport between the said dates to contact their respective airlines for further directions.
