Controlling finances, the source of wrangling in Homa Bay

A section of Homa Bay County Assembly MCAs have cited the issue of money as the main pointer to the ever wrangling in the Assembly as plans to impeach Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo is being mooted.

South Kabuoch MCA Oscar Ouma says the leadership of the Assembly has been attacked in the recent past due to their stand on finances.

Ouma says some MCAs who were behind the removal of the Assembly Majority Leader had hatched a plan to have Sh. 4 million given to the MCAs annually.

He says that Speaker Ayoo and the Assembly leadership vehemently opposed such an idea setting stage for the impeachment of the Speaker.

In a press conference in Kisumu and attended by a section of the MCAs, Maurice Ogwang who is representing Kendu ward corroborated the issue of annual payments to the MCAs.

Ogwang says the executive wing of the leadership in Homa Bay is behind the wrangling in the Assembly.

He says the Speaker is under attack by some MCAs allied to the new Majority Leader for her stand to thwart any attempts to pay development money to the MCAs through the Assembly.

Kojwach MCA Jane Ogada who also spoke during the media briefing castigated MCAs who are hell bent to swindle development funds.

Ogada says electorates are in dire need of development and not the constant wrangling.
