A civil society group has faulted the hiring of the new Kisumu County Executive Committee members just a day after they were sworn into office.

The Community Initiative Development Group director Chris Owala says the county government failed to live to the constitution while nominating CECs.

Owala says the cabinet nomination did not take into consideration that the marginalized group according to law must be included.

Addressing the press in Kisumu, Owala says majority of those who were nominated did not posses any knowledge or skills to the dockets they have been assigned to.

He says Kisumu County will not progress with the caliber of cabinet members sworn into office and urged Governor Anyang Nyong’o to look critically on issues being raised.

Owala says the people of Kisumu overwhelmingly voted for Prof Nyong’o and would like to get quality service delivery.

He says issues of public participation should be taken seriously as it is the only way to the county government can communicate with the public.
