By JOSEPH OJWANG. Kisumu 12th Oct. 2017.

The number of those injured during the NASA demonstration in Kisumu has risen to 26.

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital chief executive officer Dr Juliana Otieno says the number of those with gunshot wounds stands at three.

Otieno says two patients are still admitted in High Dependency Unit at the facility and an operation will be conducted to remove lodge bullet.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Mathews Owili who visited the victims at the hospital condemned the use of live bullets by the police.

Owili told the police to find other alternatives of dealing with rowdy demonstrators instead of opening fire on them.

However, Kisumu County Commander Titus Yoma alleged that several people stormed Kondele police station with an aim of attacking the officers prompting retaliation.

Yoma urged political leaders to take charge of the demonstrators and to caution them from destruction of property.
