Motorists in Kisumu have decried the slow pace of the construction of Kisumu Boys roundabout to Mamboleo road by SBI road Construction Company.
Kisumu County Matatu Owners Association chairman James Ochieng Omwa says the delay in the completion of the works has made their work difficult.
Omwa says public service vehicles are unable to access Kisumu bus terminus thus hampering their businesses.
Speaking to the press after visiting the resident engineer in Milimani, Omwa says they have agreed that the road blocks mounted on the roads will be clear tonight.
Currently workers at the road company are on strike over salary increment that was announced during Labour Day.
Omwa says if the roadblocks will not be removed as agreed the motorists will pick passengers on the road.
Kisumu City Residents Voice Association chairman Audi Ogada says residents of Kisumu are undergoing a lot of difficulties while accessing their work stations and houses.
However, a resident engineer who spoke on condition of anonymity blamed KIWASCO and Kenya power for the delay to finish up the road.
He says KIWASCO has failed to locate their water pipes while Kenya Power has also failed to relocate their lines on time.
The road construction that was started in the year 2016 was scheduled to be completed by January this year.
